WSU Criminal Justice Alumni Survey Results

136 out of 615 returned the surveys.

            106 – graduated with the Bachelor of Science in AJ/CJ

             11 – graduated with the Master of Arts

             18 – graduated with both

43 out of 135 have pursued further advanced education, 90 have not.

            28 have pursued a Masters Degree

            4 have pursued a Doctorate degree

            6 have pursued law degrees

            2 have pursued other types of degrees

While in the BS program, 50 students worked full-time; 20 part-time and 2 worked both a full time and part time job.  While in the MA program, 24 worked full-time, 5 part-time and only one did not work at all.

At the time of their graduation 49.3% remained in CJ related positions; 39.7% remained in non-CJ related positions and 11% were non-employed.

Since graduation, 86% are employed full-time and 4% are in graduate school.

93% agree that the BS degree was beneficial in preparing them for advanced studies while 7% disagreed.

79.4% agree the MA degree has been beneficial in preparation for advanced studies while 7% disagree.

76% agree the BS has been beneficial in the CJ field while 24% disagree.

73% agree the MA has been beneficial in the CJ field while 27% disagree.

70% agree that the BS has contributed to their performance in their current position while 30% disagree.

63% agree that the MA has contributed to their performance in their current position while 37% disagree.

47% have been promoted.  46% of the BS graduates agree the degree contributed to their advancement while 54% disagree.  52% of the MA graduates agree the degree contributed to their advancement while 48% disagree.

70% agree that the BS degree has made them more competitive for advanced career positions while 30% disagree.

77% agree the MA has made them more competitive for advance career positions while 23% disagree.

76% agree the BS helped them obtain initial employment in a CJ agency while 24% disagree.

4 respondents agree the MA helped them obtain initial employment.  (only 4 respondents answered the question)

76% agree the BS was influential in choosing their career while 24% disagree.

7 MA respondents agree the MA was influential in choosing their career.  (only 7 respondents answered the question.

88% of respondents would recommend the BS degree while 80% would recommend the MA.

98% found the full-time faculty satisfactory to excellent.  93% found the adjunct faculty satisfactory to excellent.

95% liked the flexibility of the curriculum and 90% like the flexibility of scheduling.

The average salary of the respondents is 35,000-49,000.
